Fun with our Phones Monday!
Brought to you via my weekend trip to Washington DC and a few others!
My four days in DC were a tiring blast. I was there for the annual SHRM Leadership Conference since I am on the board for our local SHRM affiliate chapter. We went a day early to take in some of the sights.
Side note before we start on the trip...I am so IN LOVE with my Erin Condren Favorite Things Life Planner! I got it for $12.50 (plus $11 shipping) with a groupon-like deal down from the regular $50. And because I'm obsessed with personalization and myself I got to put all my favorite things on it!
Back to my trip.
The sun rising from the plane above Dallas, making the connecting flight to DC. Yes, I am one of those people who doesn't turn my phone completely off as instructed.
You can barely see it, but the Washington Monument is directly behind that plane. The weather was gross when we landed. :-(
First stop: Georgetown Cupcake! And no line!!
It was everything I dreamed of and more!
I got a pumpkin spice cupcake with maple-infused cream cheese icing. So good!
Every table had a fresh bouquet of flowers. So sweet.
After walking around Georgetown we had dinner at Clyde's. Fun place. And then I realized I've developed a wine allergy. :-(
I took a ton more pictures in Georgetown, but they are on my camera, and this is just supposed to be about my phone!
Thursday we had the opportunity to lobby on Capitol Hill with our Congressmen and Senators. This is what I call Capitol Hill Plus Size Barbie
Through my local contacts I was able to set up a meeting with our Congressman John "Judge" Carter. I was disappointed with how the meeting with, through no fault on the part of his or his staff, how the meeting went. That's for another post though.
The view from a window in the Canon building. I was obsessed with that yellow tree! We don't see things like that in Texas.
As I have well documented on this blog my trials of sitting for my PHR exam, this year my name badge displayed it!!! I am so very proud of those three letters!
I made a picture for a SHRM poster from last year's leadership conference!
I took this picture at the DC airport on the way home. It's so hard to tell, but Grandma has on black capris, gray and black argyle socks, and loafers. I took this to show Gran this could be her new fashion icon! haha
Sunday, once I was back in Austin, Heids and I went to Junior League's A Christmas Affair and did some may-jor shopping!
And the girls got new Christmas necklaces!
If I get lofty I will recap the conference and add the pictures from my camera as well.

Monday Check In
Many of my tumblr friends do a weekly check in, and once again (since I have abandoned my blog for a short time) to stay accountable I want to try to get on track and check in each week. So here it is:
Obsessing over: My new Erin Condren life planner.
Seriously, love!
Working on: Payroll. What normally takes me three days has to get done tomorrow because I am…
Thinking about:
GOING TO WASHINGTON DC ON WEDNESDAY!!! Working on: Payroll. What normally takes me three days has to get done tomorrow because I am…
Anticipating: Descending upon Capitol Hill on Thursday morning with 400 of my closest SHRM chapter leaders!
Listening to: The loud ass clock in my office tick away the minutes.
Drinking: Iced black tea
Wishing: I had eaten better and exercised more this past week.

My first "It's OK" Thursday
I have so many blog posts swirling around in my head, but I just haven't had time to put them into thoughts.
But I couldn't miss It's OK Thursday one more week. I just think this is the cutest idea so I'm jumping on the bandwagon.
So I guess we'll start off with...it's OK that I have a list of blog posts that I haven't gotten around to posting.
...that I deleted over 50% of the unwatched shows on my DVR because it was giving me anxiety and I don't have time to watch them.
...that I'm eating Double Dave's pepperoni rolls for lunch today.
...that I'm a little more excited than I should for the cool weather in Austin today!
...to choose furthering my career over starting a relationship.
...that I skipped out of the last session of the Austin Women's Conference (update to come on that) early to come home and veg.
...to count down the days until Thanksgiving only because that means I have a four day weekend.
...that the Party Rock dancing hamsters in the Kia commercial make me laugh every. single. time.
...to back away from a business that I love because I don't agree with a decision they made.
...to want to redo my entire house based on pictures I see on Pinterst.
