Brought to you via my weekend trip to Washington DC and a few others!
My four days in DC were a tiring blast. I was there for the annual SHRM Leadership Conference since I am on the board for our local SHRM affiliate chapter. We went a day early to take in some of the sights.
Side note before we start on the trip...I am so IN LOVE with my Erin Condren Favorite Things Life Planner! I got it for $12.50 (plus $11 shipping) with a groupon-like deal down from the regular $50. And because I'm obsessed with personalization and myself I got to put all my favorite things on it!
Back to my trip.
The sun rising from the plane above Dallas, making the connecting flight to DC. Yes, I am one of those people who doesn't turn my phone completely off as instructed.
You can barely see it, but the Washington Monument is directly behind that plane. The weather was gross when we landed. :-(
First stop: Georgetown Cupcake! And no line!!
It was everything I dreamed of and more!
I got a pumpkin spice cupcake with maple-infused cream cheese icing. So good!
Every table had a fresh bouquet of flowers. So sweet.
After walking around Georgetown we had dinner at Clyde's. Fun place. And then I realized I've developed a wine allergy. :-(
I took a ton more pictures in Georgetown, but they are on my camera, and this is just supposed to be about my phone!
Thursday we had the opportunity to lobby on Capitol Hill with our Congressmen and Senators. This is what I call Capitol Hill Plus Size Barbie
Through my local contacts I was able to set up a meeting with our Congressman John "Judge" Carter. I was disappointed with how the meeting with, through no fault on the part of his or his staff, how the meeting went. That's for another post though.
The view from a window in the Canon building. I was obsessed with that yellow tree! We don't see things like that in Texas.
As I have well documented on this blog my trials of sitting for my PHR exam, this year my name badge displayed it!!! I am so very proud of those three letters!
I made a picture for a SHRM poster from last year's leadership conference!
I took this picture at the DC airport on the way home. It's so hard to tell, but Grandma has on black capris, gray and black argyle socks, and loafers. I took this to show Gran this could be her new fashion icon! haha
Sunday, once I was back in Austin, Heids and I went to Junior League's A Christmas Affair and did some may-jor shopping!
And the girls got new Christmas necklaces!
If I get lofty I will recap the conference and add the pictures from my camera as well.

your trip looks like so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteAnd love my EC planner too!!!
